Supervox Agency February 26, 2025
The juggernaut continues.
ISE 2025, the world-renowned annual tech show for the systems integration and audiovisual industry, concluded on February 7, and – for the third year in a row – Supervox played a pivotal role in advancing ISE’s sustainability agenda at the planet’s highest-profile industry gathering.
We did this through our participation in Sustainability in AV, or SAVe, the first and only industrywide organization to bring stakeholders in the pro AV field together to take concerted action to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Supervox partners Matt Wilson and Tim Alevizos serve on the board of SAVe. We created and manage the brand, including the website and all communications. And we are part of the core leadership team that sets SAVe’s agenda and was responsible for attracting the notice of the AV industry’s most prominent trade associations, ISE and AVIXA, as well as leading manufacturers and integrators.
It’s hard to describe the kind of momentum SAVe has achieved. What started in 2022 as a more-or-less spontaneous effort simply to raise awareness about sustainability in the industry has turned into a true movement for change. SAVe counts among its sponsors industry behemoths like Crestron, Shure and Sony. It’s a fixture in media coverage of sustainability issues within this multi-billion-dollar industry. And SAVe has authored a number of industry firsts, including the newly published, first-of-its-kind SAVe Guide to Sustainable AV Design & Installation.
When SAVe made its debut at ISE 2023, we were a delegation of several volunteers. This year, our team included SAVe Ambassadors representing 5 continents. Our initiatives have taken root around the world, and our partnership with organizations like ISE and AVIXA only deepens. In the coming year or two, we expect to have a presence at InfoComm Asia and InfoComm India. For the second year in a row, we’ll also be represented at the 2025 InfoComm USA, the largest event of its kind in North America.
Here’s what’s really remarkable about SAVe: We are an all-volunteer non-profit organization that receives no support whatsoever from the government or any other organization that could coopt our mission to bring the SDGs to the pro AV industry. We have no money. We have no power. The one thing we do have is the support of a vast number of people who have been waiting for a vehicle that will enable them to channel their desire for change into meaningful initiatives that can transform AV from a sustainability laggard to a sustainability leader.
SAVe’s growth owes to two main things: First, the vision of its leadership. Co-founder Christina De Bono brought SAVe to life through sheer willpower and passion. Her commitment to change attracted like-minded volunteers who have turned SAVe into a dynamic, growing organization. The second thing that has propelled us forward is the power of organization. SAVe is structured around an organizational method designed to enable systemic change by harnessing the will of vast numbers of people in a highly focused, self-perpetuating structure that is truly greater than the sum of its parts.
This past month when we were in Barcelona, our main objective was to grow our ranks by attracting more volunteers. They’re essential to our ability to deliver on our commitments. One of the ways we do that is by demonstrating the fact that we have a clear and powerful mission and the organizational acumen to execute on it.
As evidence of that, Supervox partner Tim Alevizos authored the 2024 SAVe Progress Report that SAVe members shared with prospective volunteers, sponsors, donors and partners in Barcelona. It documents just what SAVe has done over the last year – from creating our new SAVe Committee on Sustainable AV Design and Installation to conducting our first major SAVe Certification event for a manufacturer (Crestron), growing the ranks of our Ambassador program, advancing our e-waste curtailment initiatives, and forging and solidifying partnerships with major industry organizations like HETMA, which represents educational technology professionals at more than 600 colleges and universities nationwide. Everyone at Supervox contributes to SAVe’s pioneering sustainability efforts, and we are proud to play an instrumental role in making progress on what is probably the most important issue of our lifetimes.
